Scenic walks & trails

The island is also home to one of the largest caves in the country, which you will find in the village of Dryopida. The name of the cave is Katafyki, and was used in the past as a hideout by the inhabitants during the attacks of the Germans during World War II. Nowadays, it takes center stage when used to celebrate an Easter Festival every year. During this time, the sound of violins and the flute are beautifully amplified by the natural acoustics of the cave. Stroll through her romantic alleys, observing whitewashed homes, or visit the famous thermal springs located in the area of Loutra.

Beaches & swimming

Kolona is one of the most popular and impressive beaches of the Cyclades. Located in the western part of the island with golden sand dividing the sea into two sections and connecting the island with the chapel of Saint Loukas. A stunning view that cannot be missed.

Long Sandy Beach

A long sandy beach located on the southern part of Kythnos. Quiet and beautiful, perfect for relaxing if you want your privacy, especially if you are sailing with one of our yachts. If you decide visiting try not to miss the cove of Skilou, minutes away from the beach.

If you are approaching Kolona bay with a yacht and there is no space available there is always the beach of “Apokrousi” just a few steps away. A long sandy beach located on the western side of the island right opposite Kolona bay. A great tavern is available to relax and have dinner while looking towards the horizon.

Ancient sites

On the northeastern coast of the island, close to the town of Loutra, archeologists uncovered a significant historical discovery of an ancient settlement. Here the remains of hut floors, tombs, tools and a human skeleton were found below the stone layers of the site. They are believed to date back to 8800-8600 BC, it is also the first outdoor area with human structures from the Mesolithic period to be discovered in Greece.

Katafiki Cave Is

Katafiki Cave is located on the northern side of the island, close to the village of Dryopida. It is one of the most impressive sights on the island, once used as a shelter by the locals during World War II, not only to seek refuge from enemies, but also to hide precious belongings and important items. In order to honor the difficult times their ancestors endured in the past, the locals organize a large festival during Easter. This takes place in the cave and the area is filled with music from violins and flutes. Katafiki Cave is definitely a location we highly suggest visiting when in Kythnos on one of our catamarans during your time in the Greek Islands

Panagia Kanala Monastery

The Panagia Kanala Monastery is located on the southeastern side of the island. It is dedicated to the Virgin Mary and home to the icon of Panagia Kanala (the Icon of the Most Holy Lady),also believed to have miraculous healing properties. On a well-known pilgrimage site for Orthodox Christians- nameday of Virgin Mary on the 15 th of August- a fair takes place for celebration. The monastery also features a large courtyard, beautiful scenery and exceptional views of the sea.

Folklore Museum Of

The Folklore Museum of Kythnos is located in the village of Dryopida and is located in a restored traditional home. The museum contains a variety of local artifacts and traditional objects from the island. There are displays of items from the everyday life, which include pottery, tools, furniture and textiles. The museum also features traditional pieces such as costumes, musical instruments and more.

01Is the itinerary fixed, or can we customize our route? +

All our trips are fully customizable. There is no fixed itinerary. The final route is shaped together with you, based on your preferences (how many hours you wish to sail per day, sightseeing or relaxation, hiking, swimming, local cuisine, etc.) and - most importantly - the weather at the time of your trip. The captain adjusts the plan daily to keep the experience relaxed, safe and enjoyable, and you can stay longer at places you love.

02Cyclades or Saronic Islands – what’s the difference and which do you recommend? +

The Cyclades offer iconic whitewashed villages, dramatic landscapes and longer open-water crossings - ideal for experienced cruisers and classic Greek scenery. The Saronic is calmer, greener and closer to Athens, with short hops between historic islands - perfect for relaxed sailing and families. We recommend based on your dates, group and pace.

03Can we visit Santorini, Mykonos, Naxos, or other specific islands in one week? +

Yes - within reason. A one-week route comfortably covers a cluster of nearby islands. Combining far-apart highlights (e.g. Mykonos and Santorini) is possible but means longer sailing days. We’ll design a realistic route that includes your must-see islands without rushing.

04What happens if the weather is bad? Will the trip be canceled? +

Trips are very rarely canceled. The captain monitors conditions daily and adapts the route to keep you in sheltered, comfortable waters. Safety and enjoyment always come first, and the flexible itinerary means there is almost always a great alternative nearby.

05Are prices per person or for the entire boat? +

Prices are for the entire boat - you charter the whole catamaran for your group, not per person. This makes it excellent value for families and groups of friends sharing the experience.

06What additional costs should we expect beyond the yacht price? +

Typical extras include fuel, marina/port fees, food and drinks, and the crew gratuity. We provide a clear breakdown in advance so there are no surprises, and you can choose your provisioning and dining preferences.

07How many islands will we visit during the week? +

Usually 5–7 islands or anchorages in a week, depending on distances and your pace. We balance moving and relaxing so you experience variety without spending all day at sea.

08Can we decide where to stop each day, or is it decided in advance? +

Both. We agree a flexible plan before departure, then fine-tune it day by day with your captain based on weather and what you’re enjoying. You stay in control of your holiday.
